How to Build a Writing Quality Service With No-AI-Slop

MoneyForge Team 2026-08-13 9 min read

AI-generated content is everywhere. Blog posts, LinkedIn updates, marketing emails, newsletters — all churned out by ChatGPT and Claude. The problem: they all sound the same. Readers can spot AI writing from a mile away, and Google's algorithms are getting better at detecting it too.

A tool called no-ai-slop launched on July 7, 2026, and reached 4,900+ stars in five weeks. Created by Peter Yang (former Director of Product at Reddit, creator economy expert with 200K+ newsletter subscribers), the tool identifies and removes 20+ patterns that make writing sound AI-generated.

The tool runs as an Agent Skill inside ChatGPT, Claude Code, or Codex. You paste your text, and it strips out the patterns while preserving your personal voice. It also tells you exactly what it changed and why.

The 20+ AI Slop Patterns

CategoryExample PatternsWhy They Signal AI
Binary contrasts"It is not X. It is Y."Overused rhetorical device
Throat-clearing openers"Here is the thing," "Let me be clear"Filler that AI uses to sound natural
Faux-insight setups"What nobody tells you," "The part everyone misses"Manufactured curiosity hooks
Colon reveals"The best part: it learns."Dramatic punctuation AI overuses
Dramatic fragments"That is it. That is the whole thing."Staccato rhythm AI mimics for emphasis
Importance puffery"marks a pivotal moment," "a testament to"Inflated significance language
Weasel attribution"experts agree," "studies show"Vague sourcing AI invents
Synonym cycling"The agent handles email. The assistant drafts replies."Repetitive structure with word swaps
Fake-profound endings"The future is not coming. It is already here."Manufactured profundity

The tool also checks fundamentals: leading with the point, using active voice, untangling complex sentences, and preferring concrete details over abstractions.

Business Model: Content Editing Service

Businesses publish AI-generated content because it is cheap, but it hurts their brand. A SaaS company publishing three blog posts per week that all sound like ChatGPT is training readers to ignore them. You offer a service that takes their AI drafts and makes them sound human.

Service TierWhat You DeliverPriceTurnaround
Single article editOne AI draft cleaned of slop patterns$50-10024 hours
Monthly retainer (8 articles)Weekly article edits + voice consistency$300-600/month48 hours per article
Newsletter editWeekly newsletter de-AI-ified$200-400/month24 hours
Full content auditReview 20 existing articles, rewrite worst offenders$500-1,5001 week

Your workflow: receive the AI draft, run it through no-ai-slop, review the changes, add client-specific voice elements, and deliver. Total time per article: 20-40 minutes. At $75 per article, that is $100-200/hour.

Business Model: AI Content Detection and Cleanup Tool

Schools, publishers, and content platforms need to identify AI-written submissions. Build a web tool that uses the no-ai-slop pattern library to score text and flag specific AI patterns.

Business Model: Newsletter and Blog Voice Development

Many creators want to write but use AI as a crutch. The result is content that sounds generic. You offer a service that helps them develop a distinctive writing voice, using no-ai-slop as the quality gate.

The process: analyze 5-10 of their best human-written pieces to identify their natural voice patterns. Create a voice guide (word choices, sentence lengths, humor style, signature phrases). Then edit their AI-assisted drafts against both the voice guide and the no-ai-slop checklist.

Business Model: Ghostwriting With Built-In Quality

Freelance writers who deliver content free of AI patterns command premium rates. The market is flooded with $10/article AI-generated content mills. Clients who care about quality will pay $150-500 per article if the writing sounds human.

Use AI to generate the first draft (fast research, structure, data), then run it through no-ai-slop to strip the patterns, then add your own voice and expertise. Total time per article: 1-2 hours. Price: $150-500 per article. Hourly rate: $75-250.

Common Mistakes

Selling the tool instead of the outcome. Clients do not care about no-ai-slop or pattern detection. They care about content that sounds human, ranks on Google, and converts readers. Sell the result.

Editing without a voice guide. Removing AI patterns is necessary but not sufficient. If you strip the slop without adding personality, the result is bland. Always develop a voice profile for each client.

Underpricing because AI did the first draft. The value is not in who wrote the first draft. The value is in the final product — clean, distinctive, human-sounding content. Price based on output quality, not process.

Ignoring SEO implications. Google's helpful content update penalizes content that reads as AI-generated. no-ai-slop patterns overlap significantly with Google's quality signals. Position your service as an SEO investment, not just a writing polish.

The market for human-quality content is growing as AI content floods every channel. The writers and editors who can consistently deliver AI-free-sounding work will command premium rates for years. no-ai-slop gives you the tool to do this at scale.
